Alan Jerome Harper, later Harper-Schmidt, DC, is a fictional character
from the CBS situation comedy Two and a Half Men. Jon Cryer portrayed
the character for the entire duration of the series, the only original
main cast member to do so. For his portrayal, Cryer was nominated for
a Primetime Emmy Award from 2006â€"2012, winning the award for
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2009 and
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2012.Alan is a
chiropractor, the hapless father of Jake Harper, roommate and best
friend of Walden Schmidt, ex-husband of Judith Harper-Melnick and the
surviving younger brother of Charlie Harper. He may also be the father
of Milly Melnick.According to Eric Tannenbaum, executive producer on
the show, Alan Harper is loosely based on his real life friend Stephen
Deane. Alan is the only character who appears in every episode of the
series.Alan lives a sad, miserable life of constant poverty, failure
and rejection. He is surrounded by people who can't stand him and who
simply don't want him around. Alan used to be married to Judith, who
is the mother of their child Jake. As the setup to the show's
scenario, Judith and Alan divorced, leading to Alan and Jake moving in
'temporarily' with his brother Charlie Harper. Alan lost the majority
of his belongings and most of his income is used in paying alimony and
child support. Alan drives a Volvo station wagon and owns a
chiropractic clinic in the San Fernando Valley. He gets annoyed when
individuals call attention to the fact that his doctorate isn’t
medical. A recurring theme in the show is Alan and his housemate's
contrasting abilities, including his brother's (and later, best
friend's) success in dating. Alan is very awkward when it comes to
women, and he has had several long-term relationships end badly.
Charlie's housekeeper, Berta, described Alan as "the only man who can
drive any woman out of Charlie's house." This was demonstrated when
Charlie was afraid of his attraction to his girlfriend Chelsea's
gorgeous friend Gail, and falsely told Alan he had a shot with her;
after Alan flirted with Gail, she fled the house in horror and
Charlie's temptation to cheat on Chelsea was gone. Alan Harper (Two and a Half Men) Biography, NetWorth, Height, Age, Weight, Family, Married, Son, Daughter
